“To Succeed In Life, You Need Two Things: Ignorance & Confidence.” -Mark Twain
When I saw Mark Twain’s quote “To succeed in life, you need two things: Ignorance and confidence.” I immediately knew I had to write about it because I agreed so much with him and really related to what he had to say.
Why do we need these things to be successful?
I believe I can be pretty ignorant when it comes to doing what I want to do in regards of my future and the path I want to choose. A lot of people, whether it were family or friends, would try to tell me a path I could or should go towards. It was a very safe path and I wasn’t on board for it. I would shake my head and stick up for what I believed was right for me.
Another great example of this is one of my favorite Disney Princess’, Pocahontas. When she is being told to marry a man she doesn’t know and before she had met John Smith, she believed she was meant for so much more but she did not know exactly what was coming her way. Pocahontas had a choice to sail the smoothest course of the river (the left) or the one that was more mysterious and adventurous (the right)…
She felt her dreams extending around the Riverbend but didn’t know what for. So, she chose to go right. Pocahontas didn’t listen to anyone else’s intuition but her own then the rest of the story speaks for itself.
When it comes to confidence, I believe that even a little bit is good enough. I think of confidence as a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger it gets. With people, like me, just starting their journey and learning more and more about what we want to.. We get more knowledgeable, excited, and confident. A little confidence can go a long way!
Knowing what you want to do and knowing it’s the right thing for you.
Ignorance + Confidence=Success.
